The Palace of Parliament in Bucharest is a massive building constructed in the style of socialist realist architecture, with impressive dimensions: 270 m length, 240 m width and 84 m height, with 9 levels above ground and another 9 underground. Initiated in 1984 under the communist regime of Nicolae Ceaușescu, the project required the demolition of over 7 km² from the old center and the relocation of approximately 40,000 people. Construction lasted 7 years with the participation of 20,000 workers and 5,000 soldiers, costing an estimated 1.75 billion dollars in 1989. Although it is one of the largest and most expensive administrative buildings in the world, approximately 70% of the interior space remains unused.
